Hey guys, I just got done with some mixes and I’m inching closer to a final product. Looks like production on the story of polus will be done this weekend. Kiel is giving the mixes a listen and Zane will give them a listen this weekend and I will finish up by Sunday after I get their input.

The booklet is just as close to being done as the cd so I’m anticipating sending all the artwork and sound files off next week to get the cds pressed.

I’m pretty excited about this whole project and think it has turned out better than expected.

Be on the lookout for a couple of shows coming up in the near future…

And I’m still waiting on Kiel to record two songs for the sampler.

It also looks like the lineup is complete for the story of polus.

zane - guitar, vocals. Kiel - vocals. Zach - bass. Darby - synth, vocals, Eric - guitar, and probably some vocals. Adam - drums. Tim - Dancer, vocals. Caleb - Dancer.

at least for now.

In the past weeks I’ve heard every song on the album in a near-completed state, and witnessed the very cool and very fun booklet that is to go inside the CD case.

This is by far the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on. And the most fun. And with some of the most awesome people.

There’s really one thing holding this up, and it’s me. I need to record two songs for the sampler that is the second disk that comes with the original CD, and I’ve not gotten back in the studio yet. As soon as I do that, only the last bits of mastering will be left and we’ll be close to production time.

Maybe I can convince Zach to put just the front of the album up here. The booklet itself is a fine piece of literature that I can’t wait for everyone to see.

First of all, I guess nobody wants to come to my listening party.

Secondly, Zane just handed me 2 of the Lester remixes he did last week…incredible. You will be able to hear two of these remixes on the sludgefactory sampler that will be packaged with the story of polus cd. I might even put up an MP3  for a day so that you guys can hear the greatness that was lester and when I say greatness I’m talking lyrically…”junior high romance doesn’t last forever, and when you look back it shouldn’t really matter. As time goes by we are getting older, but when I see her, I still want to hold her”

By the way, I haven’t been in junior high for about 10 years now. And I no longer want to hold her when I see her. (listen to the song miss popularity for an explanation)

I had Zane and Darby in the studio this past weekend finishing up the vocals. Zane finally got it together and finished. Then Sarah and Susan came in and put the finishing touches on the vocals.

So I’m mixing. and looking for a few people to come to a “listening party” to get a sneak peak of all the songs. If you want to be a part of this listening party leave a comment explaining why I would I would even want to hang out with you.

This is probably the last “freebie” from The Story of Polus and the last song you’ll hear until their album is released, but other demos from other bands should be up in the coming weeks so keep checking back!

New Years

The Affair

I hope everyone had a good new year’s eve/new year’s day. I had a pretty good time. A few highlights…

Kiel hit me in the “privates” around 11:10 pm for no reason. He  complains and cries and whines because I never go to his house…and the one time I do, I’m greeted with a fist to my _____s.

(Edit by Kiel:  Speaking of complaining and crying and whining… and here’s what it looked like)

I danced to Lecrae for about 7 hours at Tim’s house. (If you don’t know Lecrae check him out…here)

And I think I almost finished the first song from “the story of polus” entitled “new years (or I hope this new years is better than the last 23)”.

It’s the I’m sorry/I’m in love with you/I’m getting broken up with song.

New Years

We’re finishing some final touches for production on “New Years” from The Story of Polus,  which we’re going to try to get up around 7 o’clock tonight for your listening pleasure here on New Year’s Eve.

edit: I (Zachary) got lazy. As you can tell it’s not up yet…but it will be soon.

The Story of Polus is nearing the end of tracking…someday. Zane is sick again (or still sick???) so we will probably have to hold off on finishing his vocals for awhile. But all we have left on this project is vocals and then on to mixing. It’s turning out pretty good. But don’t let the “6 months of working on this project” fool you.  Most of that time was “experimenting.”

I will start mixing (again) the Angel Monster and L.E.IT/Shane, Shane the monster man album after I get done with tsop cd. I am looking at an early 2009 release on this album. Hopefully in February.

Lester remixed is in the works. Zane Hall and myself are working on the track listing for this cd and will be releasing this cd not long after the angel monster split. If you remember any Lester songs and would like to see one of them make the album…let me know.

Demos: I am going to start working with Kiel Cary and Zane Hall both to get some demos for the EPs that are slated to come out in the summer of 2009.

A lot of good things coming up in the future (including a project by Kent F. and Zach Hall yet to be announced and Twerp Reunited) so keep checking back for updates.

I’ll try to get some MP3s up this week for the new year…

Merry Christmas from all of us here at sFm!

We hope you have a great Christmas eve and a joy-filled Christmas day.  Remember the reason for the season, as the bumper-sticker goes.

We’ll be taking a break from recording and web work until Monday, but we’ll be back next week  - hopefully with a demo or two and more info on the bands and upcoming releases.

We’d like to announce six new projects that sludgeFactory Music will be working on in the coming months, in addition to the current The Story of Polus album:

Each of these bands/people has an album in various stages of recording and production at sFm.  Some will be released right after Polus’s album, and some later in 2009.
